Coastal ground brings two problems at once: weaker bearing strata and salt-laden groundwater that attacks conventional reinforced concrete over time.
Build & Care delivered both the piled foundation and the superstructure frame, designed for the marine exposure the building will live in for decades.
Chloride-rich groundwater meant a standard concrete mix and cover would have shortened the structure's service life considerably.
We specified a sulphate-resistant, low-permeability mix with increased cover and independently tested every batch before it went into the ground.
All 120 piles passed integrity testing, and the client received a durability dossier they can hand to any future buyer or lender.
