What We Delivered
A lakeside plot with a high water table needed a two-level basement seven metres deep. Everything that made the site attractive also made the excavation difficult.
Build & Care designed and executed the full below-ground package: earth retention, staged dewatering, waterproofing and the substructure the residence now stands on.
The Challenge
Groundwater sat barely two metres below grade, and an uncontrolled drawdown risked settlement in the neighbouring plots.
Our Approach
A secant retention wall was combined with staged, monitored dewatering, with instrumentation tracking ground movement at the boundary throughout the dig.
The Outcome
The basement was completed dry, with recorded movement at neighbouring foundations staying inside a third of the allowable limit.
